In the last quarter of 2016 – and pushing on into 2017 – Prosound’s premier brands and their prolific technical director and sound designer, Mark Malherbe, were heavily involved in amplifying the biggest hit musicals in South Africa to appreciative audiences around the country.
Annie, the world’s favourite family musical, played to rave reviews at Johannesburg’s Teatro at Montecasino, starting its run in October and finishing with a flourish between December and early January at Artscape in the Mother City.
The Sound of Music captivated audiences and critics alike over December at the Playhouse Company’s Opera Theatre in Durban.
Joseph and the Amazing Techicolor Dreamcoat at Pieter Toerien’s Montecasicano Main Theatre returned by popular demand early in November. As always the show is superb!
Meyer Sound’s superior sound reinforcement systems brought incredible speech intelligibility and audio fidelity along with effortless power to attendees at the shows ensuring everyone had the best possible experience. MIDAS Pro series mixers gave the engineers ultimate control and flexibility, while DPA d:screet microphones stayed out of sight but very much perfectly situated in the mix.
West Side Story, the smash hit musical, is currently mesmerising audiences at The Mandela at Joburg Theatre with the same audio equipment elements in place.
Upcoming shows Priscilla Queen of the Desert, King Kong and Funny Girl will also all be utilizing the magic combination of Meyer Sound, DPA, Midas and Mark Malherbe to enchant audiences nationwide.
More details on the shows and in-depth information on the equipment used will be posted in follow up articles.
