Prosound recently supplied 6 brand new ETC Element lighting consoles to Sasani Studios in Johannesburg, which houses many prestigious local and international productions. In upgrading their lighting control system to ETC’s EOS family of lighting controls, moving from their existing ETC Express lighting consoles, to ETC Element consoles. This changeover was seamless since the syntax on these consoles are very similar. This also means the operators can comfortably switch to the new control system and program with confidence. Thanks to the cross compatibility of ETC’s consoles, their existing shows on their Express consoles were carried over in an instant thus eliminating a big part of the initial startup programming.

For the first time in Africa, Prosound were able to set up a tablet console system that allows wireless control from studio floor. This allows for lighting alterations directly on the studio floor, essential in a studio environment where the lighting console is based in the gallery, and one needs to play back cues and presets from the studio floor. a wireless network with the console and a few wireless routers inside the relevant studios, any Tablet with ETC’s iRFR/aRFR app can then connect to the wireless network and communicate directly to the console for playback. This way of control is another first for Africa, as no other studios have the ability to call up presets and cues from the studio floor.
