Our Cape Town branch was busy this weekend (1-2 April) at the Breathe Sunshine African Music Conference which attracted like-minded music enthusiasts to share knowledge and indulge in some of the best musical instruments and gear available in SA.
Prosound’s exhibition stand hosted one of SA’s leading scratch DJs – DJ Naaldekoker – who demoed the Rane Serato Scratch Live on the Rane Sixty-two Mixer to eager crowds. Visitors also had the chance to test drive the range of TC Electronic guitar pedals as well as the TC Electronic Ditto Looper. Prosound’s MIDAS, Tannoy, Electrovoice, Dynaudio and Rane product ranges also drew a lot of active attention.
Although the African music industry is one of the fastest growing music industries in the world, it is still underdeveloped. Breathe Sunshine African Music Conference aims to put Cape Town on the map as a global hub for African music.
The conference encourages networking and collaboration between the multiple music genres and their communities and includes empowerment workshops, discussions, presentations and gear exhibitions.
“It was awesome to see so many industry professionals – musicians, DJ’s, engineers and producers to booking agents and venue owners – getting together to share ideas,” says Werner Botha, Prosound Sales Consultant, “it was great to be involved.”
