Audio in TV Broadcast

From the consultation and supply of digital final transmission processors for Sentech, to the design and supply of digital commentary systems, supply of specialist microphones, audio consoles, audio processors and monitor systems for all of South Africa’s television networks. Prosound has been at the forefront in providing audio for the broadcast industry for over 30 years.

For the South African national broadcaster, SABC, Prosound consulted on digital commentary systems and supplied and supported specified systems that were used for Cricket World Cup and subsequent large sporting events. Prosound provided numerous studio monitoring systems for the SABC news and production facilities, including bespoke 5.1 surround reference monitor loudspeaker systems for SABC editing suites. OB vans specialist facilities have been equipped with various audio equipment, including analogue and digital audio consoles, comms and recording equipment for outside broadcast capabilities. Requirements for portable and fixed audio codec in addition to large-format PA systems with integrated trailer and generator have also been fulfilled by Prosound.

Private African digital satellite TV service, DSTV, whose channels include MNet and SuperSport, have had various audio solutions provided by Prosound, comprising of audio interfaces, microphones, headphones and control equipment for the SuperSport studios, including specialist headworn mics, custom audio cable systems, loudness processing and metering systems, as well as bespoke speaker systems for outside broadcast.

Prosound has supplied Outside Broadcast facilities company, Dimension TV, with various audio equipment including digital and analogue audio consoles. They are currently one of the biggest privately-owned Outside Broadcast facilities in Africa.

Prosound consulted to e.tv the first privately owned but free-to-air terrestrial television station in the country, and subsequently has provided them with specialist audio equipment, including microphone and microphone systems for studio use, specifically for use in on-camera interview situations, as well as various other applications within the broadcast environment.

Prosound continues to have a close advisory and supply relationship on the audio side with the major players in South African TV broadcast.
