In 2003, South Africa was awarded the prestigious responsibility of hosting the ICC Cricket World Cup. In a widely contested bid, Prosound was awarded the equally prestigious task of upgrading and installing sound systems at every official stadium.
Once the installations were completed, we deployed specially assembled teams to man the stadiums, to assist the ICC staff with operating the equipment and ensure the smooth running of systems.
Although the South African cricket team didn’t fare as well as hoped, the tournament was a resounding success, widely hailed as the most professionally run ICC event in history.
The following stadia were either upgraded, or had new, world-class sound systems designed and installed:
- Wanderers Stadium
- Supersport Stadium
- Willowmore Stadium
- Boland Park Stadium
- St. Georges Park
- Buffalo Park
- De Beers Diamond Oval
- Northwest Stadium
- Pietermaritzburg Cricket Oval
