Prosound was contracted by Film Studios Kenya and Supersport Africa to supply and install dimming, control, cabling and luminaires for the new studio’s (3A and 3B) in a TV complex in Nairobi, Kenya.
This was a challenging install as all equipment had to be air-freighted into South Africa, SGS inspected and then re-airfreighted to Nairobi within a very short space of time. All raw materials relating to aluminium pipe grid work and supporting infrastructure had to be purchased in South Africa for airfreight to Nairobi.
Prosound sent a crew to join Supersport Lighting Designer, Angus Clarke in Nairobi. Boy Magnussen, Chief Engineer, supported by Hein Zentgraf, Chief Programmer and two technical crew members – Elias Seakamela and Themba Sogwanqa, were based in Kenya for three weeks to complete the installation.
The combined airfreight volume was close to 40 cubic metres and comprised ETC Sensor3 Dimmers, 2 ETC Element Consoles, ETC Source4 Profiles, Desisti Fresnel’s, Softlights, drop arms, Pantographs, Cold Lights, photo beard, Red head and Blonde fixtures, Kupo clamps and Vector LED camera lights.
The entire consignment was co-ordinated by Charmaine Botha of Prosound and Tom McCarthy of Film Freight to ensure that all deliveries were timeously received to complete the install.
Following completion, Prosound will be sending their Lighting Manager, Daniel ‘Chenn’ De Wet, to Nairobi to offer further technical training to the Supersport crew. Chenn is an authorised ETC Service Technician.
